'add-on' drills

'Add-on' drills are a bouldering training exercise where climbers take turns adding a new move to a climbing sequence. The first climber performs a move, the next climber repeats it and adds another, and so on. This drill helps improve memory, creativity, and route-building skills.

Examples

In "add-on" drills, one climber starts by choosing and climbing a specific hold or sequence. The next climber repeats the established sequence and then adds another hold or move. Each subsequent climber repeats the growing sequence, adding one more hold or move each time. This drill helps improve creativity and problem-solving skills. For example, Jane starts by reaching for a large jug hold. Bill follows, climbs to the jug, and then adds a crimp hold to the sequence. Emma climbs to the jug, then the crimp, and adds an undercling to the mix.
