Figure-4 moves

Figure-4 moves are techniques used to gain height on an overhang. The climber hooks one leg over the opposite arm, forming a "4" shape, to create leverage and reduce strain. This move allows the climber to reach higher holds while maintaining stability.

Examples

During a tough overhang section, Sarah uses a figure-4 move. She hooks one leg over her opposite arm for extra reach and stability. Mark attempts a dynamic roof climb. To secure his position, he performs a figure-4, locking his leg over his bent elbow, gaining the leverage to stretch for the next hold.
