Sequence
In bouldering, "sequence" refers to the specific order of moves a climber must follow to successfully complete a route. The sequence includes the precise hand and foot placements, body positions, and the method of transitioning from one hold to the next. Efficient sequencing can conserve energy and improve chances of sending the problem. Climbers often analyze and memorize the sequence before attempting the climb.
Examples
Emma carefully analyzed the route before starting, noting the specific sequence of moves to reach the top. She began with a dynamic move from the start hold, transitioned to an undercling, and followed with precise foot placements on tiny footholds. Midway, she executed a challenging gaston, smoothly moving to a higher crimp. Nearing the end, she pressed into a mantle to top out successfully, all by adhering to her planned sequence.
