Sit Start
A "Sit Start" in bouldering is when a climber begins a climb from a seated position on the ground. The climber's hands must start on designated holds, and they must lift their body off the ground to transition into the climb. This move often increases the difficulty and adds a technical challenge right from the beginning of the route.
Examples
In bouldering, a "Sit Start" involves beginning a climb from a seated position on the ground. For example, when Jamie approaches a route with a Sit Start, he will sit on the crash pad with his hands gripping the start holds and his feet ready on footholds or the ground. As another example, Lisa tackles a boulder problem that requires her to sit with her back against the wall, pushing off with her legs and pulling herself up with her hands to initiate the climb.
