Spot
In bouldering, a "spot" refers to a person who assists the climber by ensuring they have a safe landing. The spotter stands below the climber, ready to guide them towards the crash pad if they fall. They do not catch the climber but help protect their head and neck from injury. Spotting is an essential part of bouldering safety.
Examples
When Elena attempted a high-difficulty problem, her friend stood below to spot her, ready to guide her fall if necessary. James, nervous about a tricky overhang, asked his climbing partner to spot him to ensure he landed safely on the crash pad. During their practice session, Max took turns spotting his friends, helping them stay safe during their climbs.
