Spotter
In bouldering, a spotter is a person who stands near the climber to help guide their fall and ensure they land safely on the crash pad. The spotter positions themselves to catch and direct the climber away from hazards or awkward landings. They do not catch the climber entirely but help minimize injury risks by controlling the fall's direction. Ensuring the crash pad is well-placed is another critical role of the spotter.
Examples

During a highball climb, Mark had two spotters to ensure his safety from different angles. 3. Emily trusted her spotter to keep her safe while she tried a dynamic dyno move. 4. At the bouldering gym, Alex often volunteered to be a spotter for new climbers learning to fall safely. 5. Leoβs spotter focused intently as he worked through the crux of a challenging problem, ensuring Leo didnβt twist an ankle if he slipped. 6. Mariaβs spotter kept his hands up and followed her movements closely as she navigated a tall problem.
