Clip stick
A clip stick is a long, extendable pole used in lead and sport climbing to clip a quickdraw into high or difficult-to-reach bolts. This allows a climber to pre-clip the rope into the protection point, enhancing safety by reducing the risk of a dangerous fall before reaching the bolt. It is especially useful for the first bolt or tricky sections.
Examples
In lead climbing and sports climbing, a clip stick is an important tool. It extends a climber's reach, allowing them to clip the rope into bolts or quickdraws that are otherwise difficult or unsafe to reach. This tool is commonly used when the first bolt of a route is high off the ground or if a particular move is challenging and the next bolt is out of reach. By using a clip stick, climbers can increase their safety margin by pre-clipping bolts from the ground or a comfortable stance.
